Sometimes the best days are spent with a fishing pole in hand, good friends by your side, and nowhere else you need to be!
On October 8, residents from Mustang Creek Estates in Burleson traded their usual daily routines for a little lakeside adventure during our latest Senior Skip Day! This special outing took our residents to beautiful Cleburne State Park for a morning filled with fishing, laughter, storytelling, and the simple joys of spending time outdoors.
Our Senior Skip Day adventures have become a favorite tradition at Mustang Creek Estates, giving residents opportunities to explore new places, revisit favorite pastimes, and create lasting memories. Because our Burleson neighborhood is a little farther from our other Dallas-Fort Worth locations, these residents have missed a few adventures throughout the year. We knew it was time to make up for lost time, and this fishing trip was the perfect way to do just that!
A Little Fishing and a Lot of Fun!

With fishing poles ready and beautiful lake views all around, our residents settled in for a relaxing morning by the water. The day was filled with conversations, memories of fishing trips from years gone by, and plenty of laughter.
It was the perfect setting for a little "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay," enjoying a picnic, and appreciating the beauty of nature.
Of course, no fishing trip would be complete without a few fish stories! Our Wellness Director, Terra, managed to reel in the big catch of the day, with a little help from AI, while our Activity Director, MaKayla, kept everyone entertained with her endless supply of fish jokes!
After our lakeside adventure, residents climbed aboard the bus for a scenic drive through Cleburne State Park, taking in the peaceful surroundings and enjoying a little more time together before heading home.
A Special Moment 40 Years in the Making
While the entire day was filled with smiles, one moment stood out above the rest. One of our residents, Ms. Debbie, shared that she had not been fishing in more than 40 years! For Ms. Debbie, this wasn't just another activity on the calendar. It was an opportunity to reconnect with something she had enjoyed decades ago, bringing back memories while making brand-new ones. Moments like these are exactly why we love Senior Skip Day.
At Mustang Creek Estates, we believe moving into assisted living shouldn't mean leaving behind the activities, adventures, and experiences that make life meaningful. Whether it's casting a fishing line for the first time in 40 years or simply enjoying a beautiful morning with friends, there is always an opportunity to make another wonderful memory.
Making Every Day Count at Mustang Creek Estates
A special thank-you goes to our Burleson Activity Director, MaKayla, and Wellness Director, Terra, for going above and beyond to make this outing such a success. Their enthusiasm, creativity, and genuine love for our residents helped turn a simple fishing trip into a day everyone will remember.
Our Senior Skip Day program is just one of the many ways we encourage residents to stay active, engaged, and connected to the world around them. From exciting day trips to simple afternoons enjoying nature, we believe some of life's greatest moments happen when we step outside our everyday routines.
And judging by the smiles from our Burleson residents, we'd say this Senior Skip Day was quite a catch!
At Mustang Creek Estates, we're not just adding years to life. We're making sure there's plenty of life, laughter, and adventure in every year.
