Senior Skip Day Hits the Road

A Mustang Creek Estates Family Adventure to Oklahoma

At Mustang Creek Estates, we believe senior living should still be filled with new experiences, favorite traditions, laughter, friendship — and a little adventure.

Our latest Senior Skip Day checked every one of those boxes as residents and team members from across Mustang Creek Estates hit the road for an unforgettable family road trip to Oklahoma!

First Stop: Choctaw Casino

One of the most anticipated stops of the day was Choctaw Casino, where residents enjoyed time at the slot machines followed by a delicious lunch buffet. Residents explored the casino in small groups accompanied by Mustang Creek Estates team members and volunteers, making it a fun and memorable experience for everyone.

Burleson brought some especially precious cargo along for the adventure: Mrs. Arlyne, who is 99 years young!

The casino is one of Mrs. Arlyne's favorite places in the world, and having her family join our caravan made the experience even more special. Seeing her enjoy something she loves so much was a wonderful reminder that age should never stop us from making memories.

And a few of our residents really did bring home the bacon!

Mr. T. from Sachse won an impressive $1,100, Mr. Jimmie from Flower Mound won $350, and Mrs. Cythnia from Frisco took home $200. Talk about a lucky Senior Skip Day!

Road Trip Stops — and Plenty of Fun Along the Way

No road trip is complete without a snack stop — and peanut brittle was waiting at The Peanut Shoppe.

Of course, a great road trip is about more than the final destination.

Our MCE Family made several memorable stops, including The Peanut Shoppe, where the group was treated to delicious peanut brittle, and the Texas Travel Center, where residents picked up travel resources, postcards and those iconic “Don’t Mess with Texas” bumper stickers.

The day's adventure also included a tour of President Dwight D. Eisenhower's Birthplace, giving residents an opportunity to step back in time and learn more about the early life of America's 34th president.

But some of the best moments happened between the destinations.

The ride was filled with games, singing, laughter and stories. We even brought along nostalgic car snacks from the 1960s — and they were a HUGE hit!

Those simple moments brought back memories while creating brand-new ones.

More Than a Road Trip

Sometimes the best part of the adventure is everything that happens along the way.
Sometimes the best part of the adventure is everything that happens along the way.

Our Senior Skip Days are about giving residents opportunities to get out, experience something different and simply have fun. But they're also about something bigger.

They're about living.

They're about a 99-year-old woman getting to visit one of her favorite places. They're about friends laughing together on a bus. They're about singing songs, sharing stories, trying your luck at a slot machine, learning something new and remembering that there are still plenty of adventures ahead.

We're also incredibly proud of the Mustang Creek Estates caregivers and team members who helped make the day possible. From supporting residents throughout the trip to carefully following medication and safety procedures, our team worked together to make sure residents could enjoy the adventure while receiving the support they needed.

At Mustang Creek Estates, we often say that what we have feels like family. On days like this, it's hard to tell where work ends and family begins.

And that's exactly what makes Senior Skip Day so special.

Where will we skip to next? From a summer music festival to a day at the pool and now a road trip to Oklahoma, there are always more MCE Family adventures ahead!
